Description
WAVE is a deep-tech startup developing next-generation 3D Augmented Reality Head-Up Displays (HUDs) for the automotive, aerospace, and defense industries. The project is focused on redefining spatial visualization through advanced optical projection systems.
Starting from product-level requirements—wide field of view (FOV), compact integration, and adaptability across domains—we engineered the full hardware and optical architecture, gradually evolving from early prototypes to a fully functional demonstrator of the core technology.
The key innovation lies in the 3D projection capability, enabled by a liquid lens system capable of dynamically adjusting the virtual image plane in 3D space (X, Y, Z axes). This electronically controlled optical system allows the projection to adapt in real time to both user positioning and environmental context.
We also developed an MVP supporting multi-channel projection, with high responsiveness and control precision.
To validate performance in real-world conditions, we implemented a full demo environment featuring:
- Real-time firmware and software stack for optical control
- Object detection pipelines
- LiDAR and stereoscopic vision integration
- Custom enclosures and electronic control boards
This comprehensive approach allowed us to showcase the technology’s potential for integration into mission-critical applications where spatial accuracy and visual clarity are paramount.
